The Position

The purpose of the Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) Assistant position is to provide administrative assistance to MLOs generating business. MLO Assistants are responsible for upholding Equity Loans’ commitment to its borrowers, maintaining a high standard in customer service and professional ethics. MLO Assistants are supervised by the MLO(s) and report to the Branch Manager.


Loan Application Process

  • Create the loan in the Loan Origination Software (LOS), and review data for accuracy & completeness
  • Submit the application and all forms to the assigned Processor along with the lock confirmation

Loan Management

  • Communicate and with borrowers as instructed throughout the loan process
  • Assist in following up with borrowers on outstanding conditions requested from the Underwriter


  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Self-starting, self-reliant, highly motivated and dependable
  • Efficient in time-management and ability to organize and prioritize tasks
  • Technological savvy and comfort in learning new computer systems and programs
  • Working knowledge of the process and procedures
  • A thorough understanding of the limitations of the position
  • High school diploma required, college degree preferred
  • Completion of the Anti-Money Laundering, Fair Lending, and Equity Origination trainings are required
